Label applicators are used to stick labels on to products. They are used to dispense labels, and apply them on to objects. The main work of these machines is to make the labels stick properly without peeling off.

Semi-automatic Label Applicator

They are three types of label applicators – manual, semi-automatic and automatic. The manual is operated by hand is best for a small firm. A semi automatic label applicator is useful for a medium sized industry that has a moderate volume of products to be labeled. A switch triggered by an operator makes the machine work. So, it is best used for in house labeling of a limited number of products. An automatic label applicator is useful when the volume of label application is very large. It works on motor and other sensors. These automatic sensors sense the movement of the label and the bottle and the whole labeling process takes place.

In the semi- automatic label applicator the operator places the product in a carriage. When a foot switch is pressed, due to the trigger, the carriage turns the product and while it advances, the product is completely wrapped with the label. There are pre-set adjustments and automatic sensors to see to it that every time a product is passed through a carriage, the label is applied to it without wrinkles.

This is very good for cylindrical objects, such as bottles made of glass, plastic or pet bottles. These can be tins, cans, bottles, containers or any other round object. So, it is ideal for food stuffs and pharmaceutical industry. Clear and opaque labels are applied to cylindrical objects in this manner. They are useful for doing labeling such as bar codes, holograms, stickers and plain papers which have a backing to stick them to surfaces.

You can have two types of semi-automatic label applicators.

1. Front/back model. In this different types of labels are applied to the front and back of a bottle. So, it is ideal for bottles which need two different sets of labels to be placed on one bottle.
2. The second model is the product eject. In this a blast of air automatically knocks the labeled product out of carriage. This is ideal for getting unbreakable bottles into a receiving box or container.

These semi-automatic labeling machines are compact in size and can fit on to a desk or a countertop. They are professionally designed. It is made of heavy duty sheet metal and steel. It has a long life. The parts will not get worn out quickly and you need not worry continuous maintenance. The machine is user-friendly and it does not take a person long to learn how to use it.

It will take a lot more time to perform these tasks manually. Thus, it is fast, saves time. Since it is semi-automatic, there is not machine down time. There is no need to worry about voltage fluctuation that affects electric models. It is highly suitable for partial or full-wrap around cylindrical objects and also for overlap labeling.

The automatic labeling machines will not be suited for all applications. Hence, the semi-automatic model would be the best for medium sized industries where there is more work than a manual labeling machine can handle, but less for an automatic machine.

Having knowledge about the three types of labeling machines will help you in choosing the one suited for your needs.
